Nice Mustang, and great collection of stickers and decals... but I noticed the unique treatment of the license plate, first I've seen made to look like a 1960's

Putting the Holman Moody decal across the hood this way sure grabbed my attention, but then I glanced at the plate, and noticed the aging and color treatment that they've given it, as it is not a 1960' plate, it's just the right colors. The new plates are easy to spot, because they have 7 characters. All the yellow letter on black background plates for cars were 6 characters, the first 3 were letters, the 2nd 3 were numbers. Of course the commercial vehicles (includes El Camino and Ranchero) were different and easy to distinguish from the cars plates

also the front and back have a different texture in this aging and coloring example

pretty cool to go to this trouble to make the plates seem to be the right ones for the decade. If this car really had the black and yellow plates for a car from 1965-66 they would probably be something like ppp111 through sss-999

All aluminum '40 Willys that's been circling around the internet all year finally found my email inbox

I looked around the internet to see where these originally came from, and the earliest post of them seems to be mid February 2012 on http://wizardofbaum.blogspot.com/2012/02/walt-austins-aluminum-willys-coupe.html where there are more images. However, http://saltflatsspeedshop.com/40willys.html has a bigger gallery and a couple of the car at a car show and where the Salt Flats Speed Shop says they sold it to a guy in New York

1966 Berlinetta Willys Interlagos, one of 4 in the USA according to the owner, out of only 822 made in Brazil

for more info http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z16174/Willys-Interlagos.aspx but in brief, Willys Overland of Brazil licensed the Renault Alpine 108, and built them from 1962-1966

This cars owner left a comment, and thanks! telling us that this one is one of maybe 4, 2 are intact, one is derelict, and the 4th is rumoured to be a cabriolet in Long Beach.

Some projects start with a part, and take a natural path toward completion, but assembled into a vehicle that is unique, and not ever made into production. What could be a 1903 Overland

from contributor "Uncle Frank" :

It's a complete fake and no such vehicle ever existed.

It started when he gave me a Model T klaxon horn which I restored and eventually gave back to him for the project.

He had also assembled a stack of parts, bits and pieces of this and that, a pile of scrap metal curlicues, etc and a gorgeous brass bucket style headlight from 1903.

Shortly after that, he found a Turn of Last Century opposed twin irrigation pump and knew what he had to do...

How many people who think they have seen a UFO flying saucer were looking at some US military prototype?

how crazy of a design is this? found on http://dieselpunk.livejournal.com/524428.html

1923 Marmon Herrington (love their creations) the original road train, the Damascus to Bahgdad run

How this came to be is written up in an article http://www.saudiaramcoworld.com/issue/198104/the.nairn.way.htm in which the Nairn brothers found a need and filled it with a bus route between Damascus and Baghdad, cutting the route in 1/3rd the previous standard time.

90 percent of the travelers used Nairn... it was a dangerous time, natives were hostile, water was no where around, and few vehicles could make it. Nairn charged the equivalent of $50.

The Nairn brothers stayed in the Syrian area after World War 1, and realized that the overland route had been unused since Vasco De Gama figured the way around the southern tip of Africa. So the brothers took a plow and made a trail between the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf. The plow didn't create the trail... the plow was in case they got lost, they could then follow the furrow back to civilization

Some cars set speed records, but weren't fortunate enough to be savvy enough to get an organization to be there to "Sanction" it, and AAA wouldn't bless a run unless you were a member. Huh.

notice the writing on the photo, especially that on the upper left hand corner

very rare to have wire wheels in 1922, they go back to 1908 at least, but very uncommon
in 1922 Sig Haugdahl built this wire wheeled streamliner with a 6 cylinder, 836cu in, 13.7 liter, airplane engine. He ran it on Daytona beach, and beat the previous record by 24 mph. The previous might have been that of the Mephistople, or the Blitzen Benz.

Studio44Werks has posted some cool interesting swap meet stuff!

Either a straight six, or a v12 powers this Rolls Royce hood ornamented boat tailed vintage appearing bare aluminum beast. Anyone have better photos of it?
Check out this trailer... looks like a 55 gallon steel drum with a cleaver, come-along, and shovel with a hanged section to get access to the vouminous interior... that is some garage made one of a kind trailer right there! Looking ahead to the sidecar motorcycle of rust and rebar... I think someone is making things up as they go along
that is a stunning design of engine cover
I've never seen a sprocket with art deco eagle designs before... wow

a unique look at automotive design, the French car of 1934, Avions Voisin Aerodyne from the Mullin Museum

Notice the roof is slightly slid back to let just the front seats get the sun

this Paul Poiret fabric interior is not unique among Avoins Voisin, the pink is from the C14 Charte posted on http://southsiders-mc.blogspot.fr/2010/02/avions-voisin-c14-chartre.html

this sliding roof with multiple windows... never seen anything like it

If you are interested in the unusual, the French, and the Voisin cars... strap in, and check out the fantastic variety and unique appearance of every single car I've posted that they've made. Nothing in common. No one has that much style anymore http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Avoin%20Voisin
